Where else but New York City do they worship in a ball park? Of course New York City, it is afterall the capitol of all of the 7 deadly sins. Pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluteny, lust. It's all happening at Yankee Stadium. I have been hearing this stuff all day. ESPN, MLB.com, and many other news outlets have been referring to Yankee Stadium as a "cathedral."

This "cathedral" is actually Yankee Stadium II The place was completely gutted in 1973. All the fences were pulled in and the famous right field porch that was built for Babe Ruth's homeruns was pushed back. This is not the place of the best players in Yankees history. Yankee Stadium II opened in 1976 an has never seen greater players than Ruth, DiMaggio, and Gerhig. Get it, Babe Ruth never played in Yankee Stadium II, and Derek Jeter never played in Yankee Stadium I.

There are much better examples of cathedrals in Manhattan. Saint Patrick's St John the Divine, and Riverside come to mind. There has been so much hype to this final game it's sickening. Please close this dump. The only thing worse than watching the them close this place is the hype that will come when they open then new "cathedral, " Yankee Stadium III. Oh I can't wait for April 16, 2009. Do I sound like a disgruntled Red Sox fan? You bet I am! :)
